It’s a heavy all-terrain tablet, but it’s well thought out.

Weighing in at over 900 grams, the OUKITEL RT8 is a tablet that feels heavy on the hands. This is due to its massive 20,000 mAh battery and its sturdy body that is 15.1mm thick and has reinforced corners to withstand any drop or impact.

It’s worth noting that this tablet is MIL-STD-810H certified with IP68 and IP69K protections, which guarantees that it won’t withstand bumps, drops, dust, high temperatures or water. It is 100% dust resistant and can survive submersion in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

But despite being heavy as a rock, OUKITEL has managed to make a tablet that’s comfortable to use. On the back, they left four holes where you can install the supports included in the box. To use them, you have to insert and tighten the screws that come with the tablet, so they are very easy and reliable to assemble.

One of the included stands is made of premium aluminum alloy and is used to keep the tablet upright while watching videos, making video calls or doing other work. Another support is the elastic band that allows you to hold the tablet with one hand in an ergonomic and safe way.

Additionally, it includes a strap that attaches to the back of the tablet, so you can carry it around your body like a backpack. It’s reckless to do this with other tablets, but considering that the OUKITEL RT8 is an all-around beast, it’s no problem.

Thanks to the included stand, we were able to use the tablet comfortably without its heavy weight bothering us. Admittedly, holding the tablet with one hand gets annoying after a while as the weight starts to strain your hand. Therefore, we usually recommend to carry it with one hand on the page with metal support and occasionally for certain tasks.

Big screen and camera suitable for adventurers

As for its technical specifications, the 11-inch screen with 2K resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate promises a clear and fluid viewing experience. While it doesn’t have the Widevine L1 certification for watching Netflix content in Full HD, the screen quality is still notable. Unless your intention is to watch streaming content from apps like Netflix on this tablet, the screen won’t disappoint.

The OUKITEL RT8 excels in the photography department, with a 48MP main rear camera and additional night vision and macro photography. It is clear that it is not at the level of a mobile phone with a good camera, but it takes great photos, especially when there is enough natural light.

In addition, the 20 MP night vision camera seems to be a good addition for such a tablet, as it can be used to see hidden dangers in the darkness of the forest, for example. And the macro sensor is also useful because it lets you take pictures of small things in nature, like insects or tiny flowers.

The 32 MP front camera is not on the back, it offers the possibility to record high quality selfies and video in 1080p.

Good performance

It offers mid-range mobile performance because it has a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 6 GB of expandable RAM and 256 GB of storage. It works great for playing videos, browsing the internet and checking social networks. However, it falls short in gaming and demanding multitasking.

If you’re looking for a very powerful tablet, the OUKITEL RT8 is definitely not for you. However, the lack of power in this tablet is compensated by very useful additions, such as NFC for payments (rare in tablets), quad speakers, 4G network support, Android 13 and OTG for connecting devices.

How long does the OUKITEL RT8 battery last?

The large 20,000 mAh battery is a clear indication that it is designed to be used for long days, without the need to constantly search for an outlet.

In our experience, the battery lasts about 12 hours with normal use. So, yes, it offers enough autonomy for a full day and generally you only need to charge it once every day or two. According to the manufacturer, the autonomy of the reserve is 90 days, although we cannot confirm this.

By the way, the fast charging is 33 W, which is very good, but it takes more than 2 hours to charge the 20,000 mAh of this tablet to 100%.

Is the OUKITEL RT8 tablet worth buying?

OUKITEL RT8 is an all-round tablet for adventurers and people working in demanding environments. Its durability, long-lasting battery, quality screen, NFC for payments and night vision camera make it a very versatile device. However, its heavy weight, lack of Widevine L1 for watching Netflix in Full HD, and low power may be a drawback for some.

If you’re looking for a solid tablet, great autonomy and extra functionality for outdoor activities, the OUKITEL RT8 is a great option. However, if you need a tablet for playing games or doing heavy tasks, we recommend that you look for other options with more power.

Considering everything it has to offer and the fact that it is an all-round tablet, the price 284,99 euros It’s not bad at all. You can buy it in their official store from April 5 with this key:
