UGREEN Nexode RG 65W: Fast charger with 3 ports, LED display and unique design
From a practical point of view, UGREEN Nexode RG 65 W is one of the fast chargers we have tried, such as UGREEN Nexode Pro 65 W. It is a charger with three ports that does nothing more than charging devices. What makes the Nexode RG 65 W unique is the robot-like design of the screen, which is a fun, yet practical touch. We’ll tell you why in a moment, but first take a look at the technical sheet.
What does the UGREEN Nexode RG 65W fast charger look like?
As we mentioned earlier, the UGREEN Nexode RG 65 W is not that different from a traditional fast charger. The robot head has three ports: two USB-C and one USB-A. At the bottom are removable robot legs to release the plug and connect the charger to power. The front of the robot has a small LED screen that displays various expressions that indicate the status of the battery charger.
The charger is entirely made of thick plastic with a sleek physique, though the bezels around the ports are glossy. But what we love most about the design is how compact it is: it doesn’t take up much space in the socket and you can even carry it in a bag or pocket without any problems.
Now let’s talk about two things that make the design of the Nexode RG 65 W unique. The first is the removable magnetic boot, which in addition to protecting the plug, allows the charger to stick magnets to any surface it’s attached to. Like the refrigerator. Of course, remember that the charger does not offer magnetic wireless charging. This feature is only useful for magazine saving.
The small LED display is the second popular feature of the Nexode RG 65W, as it is a great way to show the charging status. When you fast charge a device, it lights up with open eyes and a mouth. When no devices are connected, it shines with closed eyes and mouth. And still only lights up with open eyes (no mouth) when it finishes charging a connected device.
Please note that the screen will not turn on when the charger is not connected to power. So really, we’re not looking at a “smart” charger by any means, but we appreciate that UGREEN has added these useful and fun functions to chargers that bring a little joy to the user.
How does the UGREEN Nexode RG 65 W fast charger work?
As the name suggests, the maximum charging power provided by this charger is 65W. But this speed is only when you use the USB-C1 port. If you connect another device from the USB-C2 port, the power will be 45W + 20W respectively. And if you use all three ports at the same time, charging will be 45 W + 7.5 W + 7.5 W. Using a single USB-C port, we were able to quickly charge consoles, laptops, and other devices that require high charging power. For example, it only takes about 30 minutes to half charge a MacBook Pro, but it won’t be useful for devices that require more than 50 W of power if you use more than one port at a time.
However, by connecting three devices simultaneously, we were able to charge the Samsung Galaxy S24, earphones and power bank in a short amount of time and without any limitations. Of course, keep in mind that this charger is not compatible with the proprietary charging protocols of brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, and Vivo that use their own charging technologies. However, it can charge any mobile phone at high speed.
Is the UGREEN Nexode RG 65 W fast charger worth it?
UGREEN Nexode RG 65 W costs about 50 euros. That is, it’s a little more expensive than other similar 65W fast chargers, just paying a little more for the design? Well, that’s a personal decision.
Obviously, if saving money is a priority, there are simple fast chargers that do the same thing and are cheaper. But if you want to have a fast, beautiful and robotic charger, UGREEN Nexode RG 65 W will not disappoint you.
