The Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ Camera Takes First Place In Dxomark

Huawei seems to be on a mission to outdo Apple with its flagship iPhone 15 in the photography department. A very important point when it comes to smartphones, as the camera is one of the first things consumers see before buying.

And the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ camera passed the DxOMark tests, with impressive results. Let’s remember that this mobile has a triple rear camera with a 48 megapixel main sensor coupled with XMAGE technology which offers a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0. Additionally, it comes with a 48 MP telephoto sensor with 3.5x optical x and 100x digital zoom, along with a 40 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor.

Well, despite all this, it has come out on top globally, displacing its cousin, the Huawei P60 Pro, to second place and leaving the iPhone 15 Pro Max in third place. As you can imagine, the performance was top notch when testing the quality of the photos and videos.

These were the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ camera scores in DxOMark.

For many positive points, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ camera took first place with a DxOMark score of 157. The tests were tough for both the camera and the video. The results show that Huawei has put some love into the photography department, both hardware and software.

To summarize a bit of what DXOMark found in the tests, we can say that the photographic results were satisfactory in every way.

The resulting photographs provide correct exposure for portrait and landscape photographs. The zoom did not reduce the quality, because good results even in different zoom ranges (including a wide zoom from 13 mm to 150 mm, when the texture was getting lighter). Colors have maintained a pleasing appearance in most environmental conditions. A suitable balance is achieved between the texture and noise of the captured images. Detail remained acceptable even at low volume levels. Just like the video stabilization, Auto shines by being fast and accurate. The aperture difference provided enough depth of field for each scene. The blur effect was easy on the eyes, and subject detection was accurate in portrait mode. Using the 3.5x telephoto lens, the macro view provided an enjoyable experience.

On the negative side, not much was revealed during the tests of this camera, which tipped the scales in favor of higher scores. In fact, most of the flaws came only to light, pushing the camera to desirable conditions. In general, the loss of detail, the presence of noise and low contrast, as well as the presence of interruptions in videos in high contrast and low light conditions were observed.

In any case, none of these overshadowed the rest of the impressive results. The Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ is now the king of the photography segment in 2023 and has held the top spot for the rest of the season.
