The SwitchBot Lock Pro is a smart lock that installs on top of your existing door lock. No need to remove or replace anything on your door, installation takes no more than 15 minutes. After installation, it allows you to open your door in a more convenient way without using keys.

What does SwitchBot Lock Pro look like?
The SwitchBot Lock Pro is a large lock that weighs almost half a kilo with the included batteries. It comes out a little stuck from the door where it is installed, but it still looks very beautiful. It has a small design with a body made of aluminum alloy in black color. It is strong and seems to withstand all kinds of knocks. Of course, the brand is designed for indoor use only (then we assume that it cannot withstand excessive water or dust).
This smart lock works with four AA batteries, which are included in the box and last up to 9 months. You can also purchase a rechargeable battery pack, which the SwitchBot sells separately and guarantees 12 months of autonomy.
It uses Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE) to connect to your phone within a radius of 120 meters (unobstructed). It also has NFC that can be unlocked with NFC cards or tags. By the way, to connect to your mobile, you need to use the SwitchBot app, which is compatible with devices with iOS 14 or higher or Android 5 or higher.
The box includes all the necessary tools for installation. Unlike the original Switchbot lock, which used double-sided adhesive to attach the door, this new Lock Pro model attaches to the lock using screws. This will make the assembly take a little longer, but it will avoid tearing the paint off the door when you remove the lock. In addition, it makes it compatible with many locks (we will tell you all the details of the installation later).
Another new feature of the Lock Pro model is the “quick lock” button on the front, which allows you to open the door with one touch. Is this the only way to open lock supports? Well, the SwitchBot Lock Pro can be unlocked and locked in a number of ways, which we’ll cover in detail below.
What does SwitchBot Lock Pro do?

Another feature that makes the SwitchBot Lock Pro a “smart” lock is that it has a sensor (a magnet that attaches to the door frame) that detects whether the door is open or closed. The SwitchBot Lock Pro is not complicated to assemble as it installs over your existing lock and is compatible with most locks. Please note that you will need to use the SwitchBot app on your phone to properly configure the lock during installation, but it’s easy to do, so don’t worry. The whole process will not take you more than 15 minutes. In fact, if you’re handy, it probably only takes 10 minutes.
Final verdict: Is SwitchBot Lock Pro worth it?
If you want to start updating your home with something less complicated, SwitchBot Lock Pro is highly recommended. Automating your home is a great start since you can easily install it yourself and it doesn’t require any work. Once installed, you can unlock your home more conveniently with your mobile phone or the button.
But as we said, the SwitchBot Lock Pro is just the beginning as you need to buy additional accessories to use most of its functions (such as voice control or remote control). I still think it’s a good buy for the price. 119.99 euros It’s not that high compared to the competition.
It’s a big evolution compared to the previous model because installation doesn’t require adhesive tapes that damage the door, the motor is more powerful and it now includes a new key that makes opening every day easier.
