In the year After launching the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, its new flagship processor for flagship phones, in 2024, Qualcomm is set to launch its dominant chipset in the middle of next year. And the semiconductor brand has made official the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, a new SoC with significant improvements in graphics power and AI capabilities. We will tell you all the news below.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Specifications:
The new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is the successor to the SD 7+ Gen 2 and SD 7s Gen 2. This chipset is made with TSMC 4-nanometer technology and has the same CPU configuration as the last generation: 1 main core, 2 performance cores and 4 power-saving cores.
According to Qualcomm, this CPU is 15% more powerful than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Interestingly, they don’t compare it to its predecessor (SD 7+ Gen 2) and this seems to be the reason. The main core is slower: 2.63 GHz vs. 2.91 GHz.
The biggest improvement of this processor is in the GPU and NPU.
The new Qualcomm Hexagon NPU supports the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for INT4 precision technology and offers a 60% performance improvement compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. models, although not currently with hardware performance.
Finally, we must mention another great improvement of this new mid-range processor. It’s GPU is Adreno 720, with 50% graphics performance improvement and it’s compatible with OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP and Vulkan 1.3 APIs… What will be the first mobile with this processor? Well, maybe an Honor or Vivo smartphone will be the first to get the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
