One of the big news coming to WhatsApp in 2024 is AI-based chatbots, in pure ChatGPT style. Although it is possible to chat with artificial intelligence in WhatsApp through third-party services, Meta plans to officially and natively add this option to the app in the coming months.
At the MetaConnection 2023 conference held last September, it was confirmed that the Meta AI virtual assistant will be coming to WhatsApp with several different personalities. Now, thanks to the recent discoveries of WABetaInfo, we know how to chat with this bot on WhatsApp. It’s as easy as clicking a highly visible button!
WhatsApp will have a floating button to easily access AI chatbots
As seen in the screenshot above, the Meta AI chatbot will have a shortcut in the WhatsApp Chats tab. Above the new chat button will be a floating button in the lower right corner of the app.
This new button allows users to start AI-based chats from the chat tab with a simple tap instead of going through the contact list. This makes it easy and quick to use these special dialogs. Thanks to being so visible, users can see and use Meta’s AI repeatedly in WhatsApp.
This chatbot will be very similar to others based on AI like ChatGPT, Bing Chat or Google Bard. It will be a virtual assistant that can be used to get answers to all kinds of questions, solve problems, etc. Different from the chatbots we already know, Meta AI will be more friendly and accessible because the interface will be like WhatsApp chatting with people.
This Meta AI button in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.23.24.26 is now available on Google Play Store so it shouldn’t take long to reach the stable version of WhatsApp. In fact, for now, AI chats are only available to a certain group of users.
Some beta testers can try this feature by upgrading to WhatsApp Beta for Android from the Google Play Store. Although the exact date of Meta AI’s launch on WhatsApp is not known, it is expected to reach a wider audience in 2024.
