For any gamer user It’s a dream to have mobile phones like ASUS ROG Phone or Nubia RedMagic. These devices are the panacea of performance and differentiate themselves from other top-of-the-line devices thanks to several elements: side triggers, better cooling systems, much more aggressive designs, lights and, of course, very well optimized software for games.
However, there is a reality that challenges most of us: mobile gamers are expensive and available to very few. However, that could change, as ASUS could take on Samsung with its Galaxy S FE. What are we talking about? Well about what Your dream of an affordable ROG Phone 9 could soon come true.
The “affordable” ASUS ROG Phone 9 could be just around the corner
It seems that the new trend on the market is that of throwing cheaper versions of flagship phones of companies. Recent examples? Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE and future Galaxy Z Flip7 SE, the upcoming OnePlus 13R, the Pixel 8a and many more.
The trend is clear and it looks like it will soon reach the gaming industry. How do we say something like that? Well, because a loss of 91furniture underlines it ASUS is reportedly working on a new, cheaper ROG Phone 9.
It doesn’t have a name yet, but users and specialized media started calling it ROG Phone 9 FE. It was discovered in the WiFi Alliance database under the model ASUS_AI2401_Na fact that suggests a launch within a very short time. The leaked spec sheet of this cell phone is rather short, as the WiFi Alliance does not record too much data. But we know this about him:
- It will have WiFi 6 and will support the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.
- It will be compatible with Miracast to stream high-resolution video over WiFi.
- The tested model runs Android 14although it will likely launch with Android 15.
- Like all ROG phones, it should carry the ROG UI customization level.
Other than that, you should know this At the end of October there was a leak on another ASUS device, albeit from the GSMA database. At that time, The serial number looked very similar to that of the ROG Phone 8which led to speculation that it would be a new model for that generation.
However, the fact that a third ROG Phone 9 now appears makes us think of a possible cheaper version. Maybe it carries the latest generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3? We don’t know, but it would be logical to take into account two things: first, that the current generation has just come out to include the same chip; and secondly, that it is already customary the “cheap” versions carry the previous generation SoCs.
What specifications should a ROG Phone 9 FE have? And its price?
In order not to make the article too long, it should have very similar hardware to that of the ROG Phone 8, as happens with the OnePlus R and the normal numbered series. This would guarantee excellent performance while saving some money, since it would involve: a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, between 12 and 16 GB of RAMa 165 Hz AMOLED screen (even 144 Hz wouldn’t be bad) and excellent sound.
Yes, indeed, ASUS should take this opportunity with a slightly different designbecause the eighth and ninth generations have too similar aesthetics. So anyone would think that you have a ROG Phone 8 and not a ROG Phone 9 FE. And of course Compatibility with ASUS gaming accessories should be maintained.
An estimated price? There is no information about it, but it seems to us that it should aim to cost less than 1000 euros. Even under 900 euros it wouldn’t seem crazy to us and it would certainly sell for a lot.
On purpose, What if this phone is actually an ASUS ROG Phone 9D with Dimensity chip? In the 6th generation we had the ROG Phone with MediaTek SoC, so this wouldn’t be strange.
