For months, there were rumors that Samsung was planning to launch it a fourth mobile phone from the Galaxy S25 series. Its distinctive feature compared to others? What would have happened? a thinner cell phoneso all the media nicknamed it Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim. In the end it went like this, although not exactly as we expected.
Taking advantage of the Galaxy Unpacked 2025, Samsung has fulfilled the rumors and revealed the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The problem? It wasn’t a real launch, but simply a preview of a smartphone that will arrive later. What do we know about him? Where does it fit into the Galaxy S25 series? We tell you all the details we already know about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
The Galaxy S25 Edge will be the thinnest phone in the series
As all the rumors point out, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will have the distinctive feature of being the thinnest phone in the series. With the model presented by the company during Galaxy Unpacked, its dimensions were revealed, which are crazy: 159 x 76 x 6.4mm.
They would place it high and long right after the Galaxy S25+ and below the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, Its thickness of just 6.4 mm is much smaller than the 7.2 mm of the Galaxy S25 (the thinnest of the three presented).
We don’t know how this will affect battery capacity. However, the decision to only have two rear cameras, rather than three, certainly has something to do with it save space to fit a larger battery.
It’s no secret that the battery life of the standard Galaxy S23 and S24 is not the best due to the 3900 mAh and 4000 mAh batteries. AS, Samsung can’t risk reducing that capacity any further in front of the Galaxy S25 Edge. And what’s more, you can’t do that if you want to put a chip like the Snapdragon 8 Elite in it.
What processor will the Galaxy S25 Edge have? How many MP will your cameras be? What else is known about him?
Taking advantage of the fact that we closed the previous section by talking about the SoC that the Galaxy S25 Edge could be equipped with, we will talk a little more about its features. For now nothing else is known about this deviceWELL Samsung revealed only a mockup in Galaxy Unpacked. However, user rumors and expectations indicate the following:
- Everyone expects it to be between the Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
- It would have the Snapdragon 8 Elite inside.
- Like all Galaxy S25s, It should have 12GB of RAM.
- I would have done it Android 15 and One UI 7.
- At least one camera of the Galaxy S25 Ultra would be repeatedthis brings us to 3 scenarios:
- 200 MP main (S25 Ultra) and an auxiliary camera of the S25 / S25+.
- 50 MP main of the S25 / S25+ and 50 MP ultra wide of the S25 Ultra.
- The S25 Ultra’s 200MP main camera and 50MP ultra-wide camera.
- Taking space into account, the second camera is unlikely to be a telephoto lens.
- The screen should be similar to that of the S25+although it may be dimmer or lower resolution to save battery.
However, as we have already mentioned above, none of this is confirmed. This data is based only on leaks, expectations and topics that fit the size of this device.
Why Galaxy S25 ‘Edge’ and not ‘Slim’? Is it a sales strategy?
Now let’s talk a little about the name. Until now, We all called this phone “Galaxy S25 Slim”something totally rational given its most important feature: being ultra-thin. However, Samsung decided to call it “Galaxy S25 Edge”. It’s still a sensible name, but it could hide an ulterior motive.
Sensitive, because ‘Edge’ translates into Spanish as ‘border’, ‘edge’, ‘shore’ or similar. This is a word whose meaning might fit well with the ultra-thin cell phone, even if it does a bit with a shoehorn.
However, it turns out that Samsung already used this adjective years ago on the Galaxy S6 Edge (2015) and S7 Edge (2016). Its distinguishing feature was having a curved screen on the sides, a novelty for the time.
Today that feature isn’t a big deal, so much so that the last Galaxy S with a curved screen was the Galaxy S23 Ultra. So, you might think that bringing back the “Edge” moniker would cause confusion, but Samsung is definitely aiming for nostalgia. ‘Edge’ is a perfect sales hook, as it has been associated with the best of Samsung at some point.
Does Samsung need the Galaxy S25 Edge in its catalog? Maybe yes
Thinking quickly about this idea we would say no, but if we delve a little deeper it could be. There are two very specific topics:
- For years the market has been asking for a middle ground between the standard Galaxy S and the Galaxy S Ultra. The Galaxy S+ don’t respond to this, as they are just the standard version with more screen and battery. In fact, this is why they sell so little.
- We’ve been talking about it for months the possible launch of an ‘iPhone Air’ from Apple. It would be an ultra-thin phone like the Galaxy S25 Edge, so Samsung wouldn’t stand idly by against its main rival.
When will the Galaxy S25 Edge go on sale and how much could it cost?
Finally, it remains to talk about two very important elements that everyone wants to know there is no official information about it.
There were rumors of a possible launch in the media and at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the first half of 2025. This would not be strange, given that the Galaxy Zs are renewed in the middle of the year and would also provide the opportunity for an early presentation of the so-called iPhone Air.
And as for the price, it should be so between 1159 euros for the Galaxy S25+ and 1459 euros for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
