Very compact and comfortable in the hand

Although it is not the prettiest smartphone you will ever see, I must admit that The Jelly Max is one of the most comfortable phones I’ve ever held in my hands.. It has an ergonomic design with fully rounded edges and corners that allow a more natural and firm grip of the device.

Its fingerprint reader is on the back, just below the camera module, in a position where it is very comfortable to press. The 5-inch screen takes up almost the entire front thanks to the selfie camera being embedded in one corner of the panel. This allows for a more compact size (128.7 × 62.7 mm) than the 5″ phones we were used to in the past.

Of course, it does not stop being quite thick (16.3 mm)But if it were much thinner I think it would be more uncomfortable to hold.

All this adds up to a design that is ergonomically a ten and aesthetically not bad at all. Its back cover is transparent like that of the Nothing Phone, which gives it a modern style.. And in terms of construction, I found it to be very solid and durable. It is mainly made of good quality, thick plastic. In addition, it is screwed on the bottom edge, which gives firmness to the whole body.

Regarding the screen, this It offers HD resolution (720p), but it looks like a Full HD mobile phone. due to high pixel density. Games, series, movies and other multimedia content look spectacular on this screen, although obviously due to its limited dimensions it is not ideal for entertainment. Still, it is a good compromise. By the way, It is controlled perfectly well with one hand..

5G, NFC, programmable button and more

The differentiating factor of the Jelly Max is its compatibility with 5G networks. It has a slot that supports up to two 5G SIM cards or one SIM and one micro SD. It supports a wide range of 5G frequencies and most operators in the world. At least in Spain, I have not had any problems using 5G with this phone and it works quite well; no latency and at the expected speed.

It also has NFC for making contactless payments, Bluetooth 5.4, a USB-C port and even Dual GPS (L1 + L5). Unfortunately, It does not have a 3.5 mm jack to connect headphones.which I would have liked for use with an iPod, but I understand that this will not be a problem for most people who use wireless headphones. The good news, on the other hand, is that Supports FM radio and infraredtwo very useful features that are lacking in modern mobile phones these days.

As for extras, it has a red programmable button to which you can assign a specific action. It serves as Shortcuts for the functions you use mostsuch as the camera, stopwatch, etc.

Power that exceeds its size

It is very powerful for such a small smartphone. It has the Dimensity 7300 processor, the same as the CMF Phone 1, which gives it a Mid-range performance enough to play any game and use any application without any problems. It works smoothly, without any hitches during my tests, just like a normal-sized mid-range phone.

Keep in mind that it comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage in UFS 3.1 format, so it gives you Plenty of space to install many apps and it is more than enough for low and medium demand tasksYou can also expand your RAM virtually, although this doesn’t make much of a difference in terms of performance.

It is worth adding that it comes with Android 14 as standard, the latest version of Android available to date. It doesn’t include bloatware and has a “toolbox” app with several useful featuressuch as a sound meter, a compass, a magnifying glass, a level, a pedometer, among others.

Good cameras for what is expected

Normally, small phones like the Unihertz Jelly Max don’t stand out for their camera, as it is a feature that tends to take a backseat. However, on this occasion Unihertz has given us a good set of cameras. The main lens is 100 MP and is backed by an 8 MP telephoto lens that provides 3.4x optical zoom to zoom in without losing quality.

It also has a 32MP selfie camera that can take very good photos. However, We have not been able to test these cameras under conditions, as they need a software update (we are analyzing a pre-production unit).

How long does the battery of the Unihertz Jelly Max last?

Despite its size, the Unihertz Jelly Max has a huge 4000 mAh battery. Plus, it supports an impressive 66W of charging power.

Playing games, watching videos and surfing the Internet, The autonomy of the Jelly Max in my experience has been about 15 hoursThat is, I only had to charge it once a day with active use. Regarding charging time, from 0 to 100% it took about 45 minutes. It doesn’t take long!
