How is Tronsmart T8? My experience
The Tronsmart T8 is practically identical to its predecessor, the T7, in terms of design. Its shape is cylindrical and elongated, with measures 22 cm high and 8.2 cm thick. The first thing that surprised me is its weight: Just 0.7 kg for a 40W speaker with integrated battery! It is very light, so you can hold it and transport it with one hand Without any effort.
The whole body is covered by a very resistant cloth that allows the sound to be projected in all directions. In the lower part, it also has holes that especially reinforce the serious ones. This is due to its internal configuration: Two complete range speakers, two passive radiators and a woofer at the basethat together form their sound system 2.1.
In the upper part we find a Wheel to control the volume very intuitively. It is surrounded by an RGB light ring that you can customize from the official app. But not everything is controlled with the wheel: on the side there are rubber buttons to turn it on, turn it off, pause, change song, activate the bluetooth or match it with another speaker. Just above the buttons there is a cord to hang it and take it more comfortably. All its ports are at the bottom of the button, protected by a rubber lid. They are not many connections, but they cover the basic needs.
I miss a USB-A port to connect memories, but you have to remember that it has Bluetooth 5.3, so wireless connectivity is wide and versatile (mobiles, tablets, computers …). In addition, it supports dual connection, so you can have it linked to two devices at the same time and alternate between them without problems.
The construction quality seems excellent for its price. It shows that it is made with good materials. It has IPX7 certification, which means that it resists splashes and even immersions in water of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes (the latter, yes, I have not tried it). Of course, the brand does not clarify its dust resistance. The ports are well sealed, but the cloth holes are not so much, so It is better to avoid exposing it to environments with a lot of dust or sand.
As for the battery, integrate one of 9000 mAh. In my use, with volume to the maximum and the lights on, it has lasted about 9 hours. Nevertheless, The manufacturer ensures that it can reach up to 18 hours at 50% volume and with the lighting off. On the other hand, clarify that it takes about 4.5 hours to load completely, which seems reasonable for its capacity. And the good thing is that you can use it while loading.
The app is not indispensable, but I use it to control the lights and, above all, to equalize the sound according to what you are listening. It is very simple and includes even predefined presets, so I recommend that you take a look to get the most out.
Regarding the sound, it is very enjoyment. As usual in speakers of this type, prioritizes serious and acute, with more contained socks. Use Soundpulse technology to optimize frequencies and avoid distortions. It sounds very powerful and with a lot of body for its size, being ideal for outdoor meetings, as it fills the space with a clear and balanced sound. Obviously, it does not offer accurate stereophony and in very open spaces you can get somewhat fair, but it is normal.
It is great with pop, hip-hop and electronics thanks to its equalization in “U”But with small adjustments in the app also sounds very decent with rock, jazz or country. In general, its sound is excellent for all audiences, without being suitable for audiophiles.
This is the Tronsmart T8 Mini: My impressions
The Tronsmart T8 Mini is undoubtedly The most portable and personnel of the two. Its compact dimensions (just 12 cm high by 10 cm thick) and its cylindrical shape make it extremely ergonomic.
Like his older brother, he is covered by a fabric that allows a 360º sound, although in his aesthetics there are a couple of details that move him away from the minimalism of the T8: The brand logo, very large and striking, occupies almost the entire height, and passive radiators are clearly visible. Personally, I prefer the most discreet and elegant design of the T8, but this is a matter of taste.
Where the T8 Mini has no rival is in portability. With only 0.6 kg, it fits in any bag without disturbing and its practical cord allows you to carry it easily hung. It is the perfect partner for any plan: you put it anywhere, without cables or fear of getting wet (Thanks to your IPX7 certification), and voila. It is compact, resistant and adapts to any situation.
In the upper part you have the main audio output, with a Speaker oriented up surrounded by a RGB light ring which is customized from the app. The ignition buttons, bluetooth, pause and volume are on a side. I miss buttons to change songs, such as those of T8.
At the base, protected by a rubber lid, we find the USB-C port (for loading only), the 3.5 mm auxiliary input and the microSD slot. This, added to the Bluetooth 5.3 with dual connection and the TWS pairing (to synchronize it with another speaker and achieve stereo sound), offers an enviable versatility for its size.
Its sound is surprisingly powerful for how small it is. With its 16 W, it fills a small room without distorting and becomes the perfect care center for a meeting. The sound quality is decent: serious present, defined acute and correct means. Do not wait miracles for its price (about € 35), but it sounds pleasant and you can refine a little with the equalization of the app.
