Previously, we shared with you a way to determine if an image was made with artificial intelligence using Google Lens technology, and in this case we offer you something a little different. This is a new section of information that Google just added Google Photos, which lets you know if an image has been altered with its artificial intelligence.
It is something that is not very visible, but if you are curious and have the image on Google Photos, you can use the trick that we will teach you to quickly clarify your doubts. Without much more to add, let us tell you a little more about it new feature of Google Photos.
How does Google Photos’ AI-edited image detection system work?
The way Google knows if an image has been edited using Google Photos tools like Magic Eraser or Zoom Enhance is through its metadata. Photos edited with Google apps have a set of data attached to their code called IPTC metadatawhich lets the device know that the image has been altered with the company’s artificial intelligence. It’s like a signature.
To find out, all you have to do is open the image in Google Photos and go directly to the Image Description section. There you can see the image name, backup status and backup section. About artificial intelligencewhich will tell you whether the image was edited with Google AI or not.
If the image has not been edited in any way using one of Google Photos’ AI editing tools, The AI Information section will not appear. Features like Google Pixel’s Best Take or Best Take, which combines multiple photos into one so they all look their best, also count as edits made by Google’s AI.
Now, Google still hasn’t been very clear on exactly what metadata will be shown to users. This new feature will be progressively rolled out around the worldso we’ll have to wait to fully understand what other things this Google Photos update can do. If you have any questions about how to know if a photo has been edited with Google AI, please let us know in the section below with a comment.
