Teclast P40HD review: The best 10-inch tablet for multimedia content

If you want a simple tablet for studying, reading, watching videos or playing simple games, the Teclast P40HD seems to us to be one of the best options on the market, in terms of quality and price. It costs a little over €120 on sale, which isn’t bad for a spec tablet:

Teclast P40HD design: simple and ergonomic
Teclast P40HD has a simple yet attractive design. It has a metal and plastic body that gives it a solid and premium look. Its dimensions are 162.6 x 256.5 x 9 mm and its weight is 520 grams, which makes it comfortable to hold and handle.
On the front we get very large bezels that surround the screen and make it look less fancy. There’s also a fairly modest 2MP selfie camera: image quality is pretty poor, but good enough for occasional video calls.
At the back we have a 5MP main camera. On the right side we find the power button, volume controls and USB-C port, on the top side we have a 3.5 mm jack for connecting SIM and microSD cards, as well as headphones. And at the bottom we see the PureSound K4 speakers that deliver excellent quality stereo sound.
The box only includes the charger with the USB cable, the ejection pin (a tool to remove the SIM tray) and the user manual.
Teclast P40HD screen: just what you need to watch videos and read
The screen is one of the strong points of this tablet as it has a 10.1 inch IPS LCD panel with full HD+ resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) and 16:10 aspect ratio.
This translates to good image quality, bright colors, good contrast and wide viewing angles. In addition, the screen is bright enough for outdoor use without problems and is Widevine L1 certified, which allows you to play multimedia content in high definition from platforms such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
The screen has good haptic feedback and supports multi-touch gestures. It doesn’t look as good as an AMOLED screen, obviously, but considering the price of the tablet, it’s not bad at all.

Teclast P40HD Performance: Not suitable for gaming.
The weakest point of this tablet is its processor. It uses a 12nm, 8-core Unisoc T606 that delivers performance worthy of a low-end. The good news is that it includes 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, which makes switching between apps very fluid. Additionally, it has 128 GB of storage which can be expanded up to 1 TB via microSD card.
In most daily activities such as browsing the Internet, watching videos, reading books or using office applications, the tablet performs well. However, it’s not a gaming tablet because it lags and drops FPS in demanding titles, but it lets you enjoy simple games like Candy Crush.

Tclast P40HD Autonomy, Software and Connectivity: Acceptable
The battery is another notable feature of this tablet as it has a capacity of 6000 mAh with good autonomy. According to our tests, the tablet can last about 8 hours of mixed use with maximum brightness and Wi-Fi enabled, which translates to two days of moderate use. Charging is done via the USB C port and takes about 3 hours to complete.
On the other hand, when it comes to connectivity, the Teclast P40HD is a very complete tablet: it offers dual-band WiFi 5, Dual SIM 4G, Bluetooth 5.0, BDS, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The tablet has good signal reception and we didn’t experience any dropouts or interference. Everything works as it should.
As for the operating system, Android 12 comes from the factory in a functionally clean version because it doesn’t come with unnecessary apps or services. It doesn’t have intrusive ads like on Amazon tablets and includes Google services and Play Store pre-installed so you can download all your favorite apps without limits.
Is the Teclast P40HD a good buy?
Teclast P40HD looks like a good tablet for consuming multimedia content, browsing the Internet or working with documents. Its weak points are the cameras and the processor, they can be improved, but they don’t spoil the whole thing. If you are looking for a 10 inch tablet with Android 12, 4G, good screen and good autonomy, Teclast P40HD can be a good option for you.
