SwitchBot K10+ Pro Review: A Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Corners

At the end of last year, we reviewed the SwitchBot K10+ which until then was the best Compact robot vacuum cleaner for cleaning in tight spaces difficult to access. Now, a new version of this robot is available that incorporates specific improvements to become the ultimate mini cleaning robot.

What is the SwitchBot K10+ Pro robot like?

In terms of aesthetics, size and weight, the SwitchBot K10+ Pro is exactly the same as the standard K10+. It is extremely compact, with a diameter of less than 25 cm and a thickness of 9.2 mm. Although it is completely made of plastic, its build quality is quite good with premium finishes. It can withstand not-so-high falls without any problems. Perhaps the only bad thing in terms of design is that it is only available in white, but I guess that doesn’t matter much.

The main roller of this robot does not have bristles, as it is made entirely of rubber. It has an anti-tangle design that I really liked, since the hairs don’t get stuck as it happened to the K10+ robot roller.

On the top of the robot are the controls for cleaning (the power button) and returning to the charging station (the one in the house). There is also the navigation module composed of a LiDAR laser that offers precise and easy mapping. In addition, it has a PSD side edge sensor that allows you to better detect obstacles to get around them. This sensor is new compared to the K10+ and believe me it greatly improves navigation; it stumbles less and covers corners better.

Its dust container is 150 ml and is easily accessible for manual emptying. However, in practice, it is not necessary to remove it every now and then because The emptying station is responsible for sucking up the garbage collected by the robot. and store it in its bag, which has a capacity of 4L. This way, you will only have to throw away the bag once every 90 days. And without getting your hands dirty!

This robot also has a mopping function, but not as you imagine. And that is because The SwitchBot K10+ Pro does not have a water tank or mopYou have to put a plate with a damp cloth on the bottom so that it can mop. At first I wasn’t convinced by this feature because the mopping cloths that it comes with don’t clean very well, but using a fine microfiber cloth improves it a lot.

How well does the SwitchBot K10+ Pro robot vacuum and mop?

The SwitchBot K10+ Pro features improvements in cleaning performance compared to its predecessor by increasing its maximum suction power from 2500 Pa to 3000 Pa. It now picks up more dust and dirt, but is still not as powerful as a full-sized vacuum. It is especially difficult to vacuum up pet hair and debris.. It takes more than one pass to properly suck up all this type of trash.

It is worth noting that the side brush spins faster (at 200 rpm). This, coupled with its reduced dimensions that allow it to reach places where other robots would never go, It makes it clean walls, corners and furniture legs much better.which are the weak points of conventional robots and vacuum cleaners.

On the other hand, I must say that It detects well when it is on a carpet to automatically increase the power suction and achieve a deeper clean. However, it only works on short-pile carpets; it avoids long-pile carpets altogether.

While the SwitchBot K10+ Pro offers Four power levels (600, 1000, 2000 and 3000 Pa)In everyday use I always use it at maximum power because at lower levels the robot usually leaves traces of dirt. At this level, its noise reaches 59 dB which is not very loud, but clearly audible. At the lowest power level, Its noise is reduced to 42 dB.

As for its scrubbing ability, when done with disposable pads, It is not able to remove stains or clean very dirty floors.. It is only good for removing light dust from the floor and disinfecting it very superficially. With a microfiber cloth it improves, but since it does not have a tank to wet the floor properly and does not have specific scrubbing functions, I would not recommend it to someone looking for a robot to scrub.

What is the SwitchBot K10+ Pro app like and what is it for?

The SwitchBot K10+ Pro is easy to set up via its app. From there, you can access various customization options, such as Virtual walls, scheduled cleaning, selection of specific rooms and adjustment of suction power. The SwitchBot K10+ Pro has a 3200 mAh battery that the manufacturer claims lasts up to 150 minutes. And that’s true, but only if you use it in minimum power mode. At maximum power, the autonomy is only 60 minuteswhich may be more than enough for apartments and small homes, but may fall short when cleaning large homes on a single charge.

Is the SwitchBot K10+ Pro robot vacuum cleaner worth buying?
