In the world of home automation, innovation is constant and smart home solutions are becoming increasingly sophisticated. An example of this evolution is intelligent presence sensors, such as the Meross MS600. This model It is not just a motion detector; It is a multifunctional tool Designed to improve the comfort, safety and energy efficiency of your home.
Being compatible with multiple platforms through Matter, including Meross, HomeKit, Alexa and Google Home, It can adapt to any smart home system or be the first stone that builds your “Smart Home”. I have been using it in my house to tell you what it is like, how it works and if it is really worth it. Let’s go there!
Meross MS600: an intelligent and multifunctional presence sensor that will solve many problems for you
The Meross MS600 is presented as a smart and multifunctional solution for those looking to improve automation and security in their homes or offices. Detects both movement and the presence of peoplethanks to its dual detection technology that combines a millimeter wave radar with a PIR (passive infrared) sensor. Ah! And it also has a light sensor.

What is the Meross MS600 like?
The Meross MS600 is a small white rectangular case with a hemisphere protruding from the body. Comes with a power adapter with a 1.5 meter USB-A to USB-C cable to connect to power. It also includes some stickered cable clips or holders, a large sticker for mounting the sensor on the wall, and a piece of plastic (the pet guard) to block detection on the bottom half.
Installation is very simple, since you just need to stick it with the double-sided adhesive on the wall where you want to use it and then connect it to the power with the charger, making sure to secure the cable with the clips. Thus, the installation is very clean and firm.
The sticker is quite strong and It doesn’t seem like it will fall off over time.while the clips help the cable look neat. In addition, the rear cover of the sensor helps give it a certain inclination to point it where you want.
The sensor itself is made entirely of plastic with very good quality. It feels solid and its casing is well fixed. I have tried other cheaper motion sensors that use fairly flimsy casings that fall on their own, so I really appreciate that the Meross MS600 has opted for a robust body.
Of course, I also have to say that the plastic piece to avoid the detection of pets and cleaning robots has disappointed me. Besides that, Covering half of the sensor hemisphere so it doesn’t see what’s underneath is an outdated concept. In this era where AI is already used for these cases, the plastic piece does not fit quite well around the hemisphere and falls off for nothing. There are those who say that you have to glue it, which I don’t think is ideal.
How does the Meross MS600 work?
Before starting, we must make one thing clear: The Meross MS600 has a total of three sensors. The protruding hemisphere is the PIR (passive infrared) sensor that Detects motion within a range of 12 meters. Below the hemisphere is a small hole that contains an LED, which lights up when it detects movement (this function can be turned off from the app).
That hole also contains the luminosity sensor that is capable of detecting between 0 to 8000 lux. Below this hole, there is a circular imprint with the Meross logo, where the mmWave sensor used to detect presence is housed. This last sensor has a power of 24 GHz and can detect someone within a range of 6 meters without them moving. By the way, you can reset all these sensors using the reset button on the back, behind the cover.
To start using it after installing it, You must connect it to your mobile with its app and then follow the instructions. It uses the Matter standard, so you can link it to the service of your choice, be it HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home or Smart Things.
Once you have everything configured, you will see in the application a very simple graph that indicates three important facts: the luminosity of the space, the presence of people and how far they are from the sensor, and the duration of the presence. Besides, you will see two buttons: Records and Automation. The first takes you to a history that shows everything it has detected in the last few days (including light level and presence throughout the day).
The Automations option allows you to perform various actions according to a lot of variables, but unfortunately it is only compatible with other Meross products. Nevertheless, Yes, it can be integrated with Alexa, Google Home automations and other servicesalthough I must say that they are more limited than those offered by the Meross app. It’s a shame that Meross automations don’t work with non-Meross devices.
Now, what can be done with this sensor? Well, many things, but mainly receive alerts on your mobile about what is happening in your home to act accordingly. The Meross MS600 can send you a real-time notification if it detects someone’s presence, absence, and low light level (ideal for letting you know if there is a blackout).
With automations, You can make the Meross MS600 activate an alarm if it sees someone entering your house when you’re away. You can also have the lights turn on when you are in a room or when the ambient light is very low, and turn them off when you leave or when the place is already well lit, which not only makes your life easier, but also helps you save energy.
The possibilities with the Meross MS600 are vast and they essentially depend on the smart devices you have at home to create scenes of all kinds with them.
Is the Meross MS600 worth it?
The Meross MS600 It is an intelligent presence sensor that more than meets its promise. Its versatility, ease of installation, and compatibility with multiple platforms make it a good option for automating your home.
It is true that its protection against pets leaves something to be desired and it would be better if the automations in its app could be used with products that are not from Meross. However, Its motion, presence and luminosity detection works perfectly and I had no problems creating basic automations with it. In addition, it can be used with third-party services without problems.
Its price, only €29.24compared to the great potential it offers to create a smarter and safer home, makes this sensor a worthwhile investment.
