An impressive design for such a cheap mobile
For a budget phone, the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro looks very elegant. It is pastel green (although it is also sold in black) with some very cool wind-inspired patterns. Its edges have a slight curvature that provides a more pleasant grip. It feels very comfortable in the hands. By the way, its sides have a glossy finish that contrasts with the matte finish of the back cover, which gives it a sophisticated touch.
Despite being a large mobile, it only weighs 199 grams and its thickness is just 8.65 mm. It doesn’t feel heavy or uncomfortable as it might seem. The back is very pleasant to the touch and gives a premium feel that I have only had with higher-end phones.
It has two buttons (volume and power), a USB-C port, a SIM tray and dual speakers. At the back, it has a large circular camera module that houses a 1.09″ outer screen in the center. You can use this mini-screen as a viewfinder for the rear camera or to see notifications, the time, the phone’s battery level and more.
Even, on the outside screen you can use tools such as stopwatch, timer, compass or multimedia control. In addition, it can be customized with different watchfaces to give it the style you prefer.
At the top of the main screen, it has an embedded selfie camera. Also It has a fingerprint reader built into the screenas most high-end mobile phones have. Unfortunately, it does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Its 2K resolution AMOLED screen is outrageous
The screen is what has amazed me the most about the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro. It is incredibly immersive thanks to its Huge 6.67-inch size, 2K resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) and AMOLED panel with vibrant colors and deep blacks. In addition, it curves at the edges of the mobile, which makes it even more enveloping with a body-screen ratio of 93.6%.
To watch movies and series, it’s amazing. It looks spectacular in every way, although I have to say that it is due in fluidity. Its refresh rate is standard (60 Hz), which is fine for general use, but if you come from a mobile phone with 90 Hz or more you will notice that it lacks fluidity when navigating through its interface.
Regarding the brightness, It can reach 1800 nits, which is enough to view the phone outdoors in direct sunlight.. Its typical brightness is 500 nits, so it does not strain the eyes in daily use. By the way, the brightness of its external screen is 400 nits and it is difficult to see it in sunlight.
More than enough performance for basic use
The hardware of the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro is quite modest compared to its screen. It has a chip MediaTek Helio G85 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage (expandable up to 1 TB with micro SD). It works well with basic calling, messaging, browsing, music, videos, and social networking tasks. However, don’t expect super smooth multitasking performance or great gaming performance.
Although its screen is almost high-end, keep in mind that Its performance is mid-range on the low side.. And it is something understandable; In order to offer a terminal with this screen at an affordable price, you have to adjust somewhere.
Comes with Android 14 out of the box and the brand’s customization layer called FOSSiBOT OS that adds several interesting functions. In addition to all Google apps and services, it comes with a toolbox with a pedometer, leveler, protractor, magnifying glass, sound meter, height meter, etc.
Includes a function Very useful “freezer” that allows you to hibernate the apps that you are not going to use so that the mobile consumes fewer resources and spends less energy. It also has a kind of Dynamic Island that hides the selfie camera hole in a versatile widget that can act as a recorder, timer, battery level display, music control, etc.
Basic cameras that don’t impress
The photographic section of the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro is not its strong point. It incorporates a 64 MP main sensor along with a 2 MP macro sensor that meet with the task of taking decent photosbut they have many deficiencies in terms of color, details, lighting, contrast, etc.
In the photos that we leave you below you can see lack of sharpness (in the trees in the first photo), overexposure (in the sky in the second photo)unnatural colors (in the sky in the third photo) and lack of details (in the Christmas tree). Its 8 MP selfie camera has more or less the same problems, but it’s not bad at all. We remind you that this mobile is not worth more than €150, so we cannot ask for much.
How long does the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro battery last?
The FOSSiBOT S3 Pro has a 5000 mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. It’s nothing amazing in this regard, but gives you 1 day of autonomy with normal usewhich is the minimum we ask of any smartphone.
Is the FOSSiBOT S3 Pro worth buying?
The FOSSiBOT S3 Pro is the ideal mobile for those looking for a large screen and high quality at an affordable price. I have been fascinated by its 6.67-inch 2K AMOLED panel that offers unbeatable image quality and curved edges to provide a very immersive experience. It’s like having a cinema in your hands!
Its elegant and curved design is also very notable; It seems higher-end than it really is.. In addition, it is very comfortable and light. Its performance and camera deliver, and its battery gives you just enough life to only have to charge it once a day.
