Motorola’s new generation of flexible clamshell smartphones is here. The Moto Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra have just been officially launched in China at an event that has been rumored to feature AI integration. However, that’s not the only thing new about the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra series.
Both the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra come with a more powerful processor, Android 14 out of the box, and a larger external screen that covers half of the back. In addition, the 50 Ultra model has improved the quality of photography by completely renewing the set of cameras. Come with us to meet them!
Moto Razr 50 and 50 Ultra specifications
We leave the Moto Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra comparison technical sheet, if you want to see their specifications and differences for yourself.
Moto Razr 50: foldable for less than 500 euros
The Moto Razr 50 is the most affordable mobile phone in the series and one of the cheapest foldables on the market. For less than 500 euros, it includes a large 6.9-inch OLED foldable screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, plus a massive 3.6-inch 90 Hz external screen. A significant jump compared to the Razr 40’s 1.47-inch screen.
The processor is MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300X, which is specially designed for dual-screen devices. In fact, it is the first mobile phone to have this. It features four 2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores, accompanied by a Mali-G615 graphics card with HyperEngine. In theory, the performance should be in the mid-high range and with low consumption.
Where Razr 50 has not improved anything compared to its predecessor is in the camera department. It still has a 32MP selfie camera and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. Of course, the 64MP main sensor has been swapped for a 50MP one, although that shouldn’t make a significant difference.
In terms of autonomy, it has a 4200 mAh battery that supports 30W wired and wireless 15W fast charging. Finally, note that the operating system has been updated to Android 14.
Moto Razr 50 Ultra: Foldable with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and 50MP Dual Camera
The Moto Razr 50 Ultra is Motorola’s premium foldable phone this year, even though it costs less than €800. The 6.9-inch main screen comes with Full HD+ resolution that can vary the refresh rate between 1 and 165 Hz.
The brain is the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor with more capabilities today. However, Motorola spared no expense on the memory: it comes with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Therefore, the Razr 50 Ultra can provide you with high-quality performance.
The highlight of the Razr 50 Ultra is its dual 50MP rear camera, one of which is a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. However, its selfie camera is still 32 MP.
On the other hand, it has a 4000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging via cable and 15W wireless charging. It comes with Android 14 operating system and Moto MyUX. By the way, there was a lot of talk about AI during the presentation of the Razr 50 Ultra, but there is nothing we haven’t seen with Galaxy AI or other implementations made by large manufacturers.
