Infinix has launched a new member of its Smart 8 series, the Smart 8 Pro. This entry-level smartphone boasts an attractive design and a 90Hz display, but one major drawback is its processor. The Infinix Smart 8 Pro packs the MediaTek Helio G36, a chip below the UniSocke T606 that underpins the other two models in the family, the Infinix Smart 8 and Smart 8 HD.
All the features of Infinix Smart 8 Pro
Infinix Smart 8 Pro is a terminal that focuses on the visual aspect both on the outside and on the screen. The body measures 164.43 x 76.66 x 7.9 mm and weighs 189 grams and is available in four colors Wood Black, Glitter Gold, Galaxy White and Rainbow Blue. On the back we find a 50 MP main camera with f/1.85 aperture and autofocus, an auxiliary lens with AI and f/2.0 aperture, and an LED flash. We have a fingerprint reader on the side.
The screen is one of the strong points of the Infinix Smart 8 Pro. It has a 6.6-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution (1612 x 720 pixels) and 20:9 aspect ratio. Specifically, it has a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch rate, which should provide a smooth and responsive experience. In addition, it has a maximum brightness of 500 nits and has a hole in the upper left corner for an 8 MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The weakest part of the Infinix Smart 8 Pro is its performance. The device is powered by MediaTek Helio G36, a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor with Mali-G57 MC1 GPU. According to AnTuTu tests, this chip scored around 150,000 points, while the Unisoc T606 carried by two other models of the Smart 8 series exceeded 240,000 points, according to data collected by NanoReview. That is, the Infinix Smart 8 Pro is more than 50% less powerful than its brothers.
The Infinix Smart 8 Pro is offered in two configurations: one with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and the other with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Both options have UFS 2.2 memory and support microSD cards up to 2TB. The battery is 5000 mAh with standard 10W charging via USB C. The operating system is Android 13 Go with XOS 13 custom layer.
In terms of connectivity, the Infinix Smart 8 Pro has dual SIM 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi 5, GPS, Bluetooth 5, 3.5mm audio jack and OTG for connecting peripherals via USB C port.
Infinix Smart 8 HD price and availability
Although the Infinix Smart 8 Pro is available on the official Infinix website, there is still no official date or price. The Infinix Smart 8 and Smart 8 HD are expected to retail for around $100 and $80 respectively. It will be important to see if the design and the camera compensate for the loss of power compared to its direct competitors.
