Max is getting closer to reality. The new Warner Bros. Discovery platform will arrive in the middle of this year to replace HBO Max, and in addition to bringing new content, it will bring changes to the policies of the service.
And there’s no doubt that the most important of the new steps Max will take will be related to the users who share the account. That’s right, Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed that they can even delete a user’s account if they’re found to have shared the account.
Max does not allow shared accounts, and may even delete them.
Warner Bros. Discovery has updated its Max Usage policies, adding a new condition to the Service Restrictions section. Now you can read the following paragraph which condemns the practice of account sharing and prescribes drastic punishment for those who do it:
“Change or disable access, including for security reasons to limit the impact of sharing accounts outside of your home or when we believe, in our discretion, that your super account has been misused.” In the event of suspension or cancellation, you must stop using the Platform.
As stated in the quote above, Max reserves the right to delete or suspend a user’s account if they become aware that they are sharing it with people outside of their family. Because according to the new policy, it is considered that you are abusing the account.
Finally, it’s worth noting that Max isn’t the first platform to go against the practice of account sharing. Let’s remember that Netflix was the first to ban shared accounts in the middle of last year, and the rest of the streaming services on the market are expected to follow this trend.
And you… Do you risk sharing your Max account?
