What does the Dreame Pocket Hair Dryer look like?
The design of the Dreame Pocket is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. It has the shape of two thin tubes connected by the hinge, so it brings a small and ergonomic style. It’s very comfortable to hold and weighs only 300 grams (not including the weight of the cable) so it won’t tire your hands even when drying your hair for 30 minutes or more.
It is made of high quality plastic and has a gray color that accentuates its beautiful design. But everything is not beauty. The Dreame Pocket has a sturdy three-position hinge that provides plenty of versatility. The dryer can be folded into an “N” shape for easy storage in a bag, a “1” shape for use as a curling iron, and a “7” shape for a traditional dryer.
We have no complaints regarding the build quality. Everything is in place, strong and well adjusted. The only thing that we think can be improved is the 1.5 meter cable, which creates a lot of obstacles when storing the dryer and it is useful to be able to remove it. This way, not only does it stop getting in the way, it’s more convenient to transport the dryer, but there’s no fear of the cord being damaged by over-bending (although the joint is very thick and I don’t think it would be).
On the handle of the Dreame Pocket we find two controls: to select or turn off the speed, and a button to change the air temperature. On the other hand, it should be noted that the cold air intake can be dismantled to clean the integrated filter. In addition, the hot air outlet is protected so that no one can put their fingers and has a magnetic ring to attach accessories.
In the box, Dreame Pocket includes a fabric bag and two accessories. One of them is a curling nozzle and the other is an anti-frizz nozzle to coat straight hair with a smooth and shiny finish. And the best thing is that installing these accessories is very easy, because you only have to place them on the nozzle of the dryer and thanks to the magnetic connection.
How does the Dreame Pocket Hair Dryer work?
The Dream Kiss has a brushless motor with 110,000 revolutions per minute, which gives you an air speed of up to 70 meters and quick drying in 40 seconds for short hair, according to the manufacturer. It has a 1300 W heater that heats the air quickly. As soon as you turn it on, you don’t need to wait for anything to start using it.
The brand confirms that the operating noise of this air dryer is 60 dB or less, although in our tests it exceeds 70 dB. It’s audible, but it’s not really annoying. The noise expected from a hair dryer is just as loud.
With the controls, you can set the air speed to normal or high and choose one of the three air temperature levels. You can also select a hot/cool cycle mode where the dryer alternates between 7 seconds of hot air and 5 seconds of cool air. This theoretically serves to dry your hair quickly without exposing it to harmful heat.
How should you use the dryer? It all depends on what you want. For daily drying, I use normal air speed with medium temperature. But if I want to dry my hair quickly, I start with the highest speed and temperature and after 3-5 minutes, I lower the temperature to prevent it from drying out.
As accessories, even though it is very focused, I want to use it without anything to dry because it gives a strong and direct air flow. For styling, it is better to use the anti-freeze nozzle that is attached to the hair to distribute the air circulation better and straighten it without leaving a mess. And if you have curly hair or want to make curls, the curling iron’s nose is for it.
By the way, the brand emphasizes that the Dreame Pocket delivers 300,000,000 negative ions per cm³, which in theory can eliminate static electricity and seal hair breakage. This not only prevents irritation, but also takes care of the hair. Honestly, I don’t know how effective this technology is, but the truth is that it doesn’t hurt my hair especially every time I use it.
Final Verdict: Is the Dream Pocket Hair Dryer Worth It?
Dreame Pocket can meet the needs of all kinds of users. It has a compact and foldable design, convenient for frequent travelers, a powerful and robust brushless motor that ensures fast drying, and useful accessories for making smooth and straight hair. And if that’s not enough, it has ionic technology that protects hair from heat damage.
In Spain now b 159 €, it is a high price compared to traditional hair dryers, but Dreame Pocket is not a traditional hair dryer.
