Unfortunately, another popular Kodi add-on permanently shuts down, unexpectedly. Cristal Azul, which has since been a widely used and loved add-on among Kodi users content offered in Spanishwith impeccable organization and great variety, it no longer works and doesn’t look like it will return.
Now it’s time to say goodbye, well its creators decided to close the project. And while they didn’t directly state the cause of the shutdown, they did mention Telegram in the story. It appears that changes in their policies are starting to impact many piracy-related resources.
Cristal Azul stops working forever: Telegram measures strangle pirate sources
“The addon is closed immediately and forever, because things have become very bad, goodbye”, with this first message from the Telegram channel Cristal Azul (@NovedadesCristalAzul), the creators announced the closure of the project. Shortly after, the channel is no longer available to users. Anyway, word got out and a similar announcement was posted by another outlet.
On @AmigosNoticias they revealed the following: “Cristal Azul has decided to close its Addon forever. Thank you so much for all the years of serving people. Telegram is no longer a secure site. We are still in incognito mode waiting in the shadows”. So it could all be due to changes in the messaging app, where piracy is actively fought, also controlling private channels.
Since Pável Dúrov’s arrest, things on Telegram have started to look different. Strong accusations of having allowed the formation of pirate, extremist and pedophile groups have shaken the company. In response, they did what they hadn’t even bothered about before: Closely monitor groups and channels, including private ones. This has managed to slow down many projects. An example could be Kodivertir, who despite having declared he wanted to close for personal reasons, announced his retirement on the eve of the change to the messaging platform.
The list of Kodi add-ons is starting to shrink and Cristal Azul is probably not the only one to close its doors due to Telegram. Another hard blow to piracy, even if time has already made it clear that, where a project of this style dies, another is usually born in a cycle that always repeats itself.
