The launch of Android 16 doesn’t stop and now it’s OPPO’s turn to present its update based on this new version of Google’s OS. The brand has just officially presented itself ColorOS 16, the system based on Android 16 Designed for OPPO phones and tablets. Below we tell you all the news and at the end we leave you the list of devices eligible for the update.
ColorOS 16 is official: all the details of the global update
As OPPO explains through its official blogColorOS 16 is the new version of the operating system used by your devices and is based on Android 16. This will debut in the next few days with the launch of the OPPO Find X9 series (the brand’s new flagships) and then it will start to be extended to the rest of the devices.
What does ColorOS 16 bring new? Well here we leave you to news summary from this update:
- Performance improvements: the system starts the engines «Bright rendering» Yes «Engine of the Trinity»which optimize task execution and make transitions smoother. According to OPPO, these engines allow applications to launch up to 28% faster and performance is sustained even under high load.
- New design inspired by light and shadow: All interface animations have been redesigned, creating a nature-inspired play of light and shadow. Additionally, the home screen allows you to resize icons and folders to the size you want.
- Live wallpapers on your lock screen– Now you can place animated photos (brings AI function to animate photos) or short videos on the lock screen as wallpaper.
- Full screen ODA– Always-On Display now supports videos or photos that cover the entire screen and not just a small part of it.
- AI Portrait Glow– New AI tool to improve low-light portraits.
- Masterly cut– A built-in video editor with professional features like speed control, music integration, manual adjustments, etc.
- Improved O+ connection– Optimized connection synchronization between OPPO device and Mac or Windows computer for file management and remote control.
- Advanced screen mirroring– You can now project and control up to five phone apps at once using your computer’s mouse and keyboard.
List of OPPO phones that will update to Android 16 (will receive ColorOS 16)
During the presentation event in China, the brand revealed a list of OPPO devices and OnePlus (we exclude the latter, given that in this part of the world they will use OxygenOS 16) which will receive the ColorOS 16 update based on Android 16.
