AGM X6 Phantom Review: A Great Transparent All-Terrain Phone

I like rugged phones that don’t look like they’re rugged. They give me the confidence that I can do anything with them. without worrying about them getting damaged in an accident, without being embarrassed to show off their design and without giving up ergonomics.A phone that meets these characteristics is the AGM H6 that I recently analyzed, but I have to admit that its basic design bored me. The opposite is the case with the AGM X6 Phantom.

I have been using the AGM X6 Phantom for some time now and without a doubt It’s the most stylish all-round smartphone I’ve ever owned. It takes the transparent design popularized by Nothing and takes it to the next level, adding more strength and removing everything unnecessary.

AGM X6 Phantom Review: A Transparent Phone That Can Resist Anything and Even Measures Temperatures

Agm X6 Phantom Review
At first glance, the AGM X6 Phantom does not look like a rugged mobile phone

The AGM X6 Phantom It is a dust, water and shock proof mobile phone with a transparent design which reminds us of Nothing’s phones. It has a set of good features, among which its 5G connectivity, the 6.58″ Full HD+ screen and the 5000 mAh battery stand out. We leave you its technical sheet to then go into details:

Amazing from behind, somewhat disappointing from the front

The AGM X6 Phantom is a smartphone designed for use in all types of scenarios, with a robust and high-quality design that Meets military standards MIL STD-810H and IP68 and IP69K standards. This means that it is waterproof and dustproof, and can withstand sudden changes in temperature.

Besides, It has aluminum sides and rubber-reinforced corners.which allows it to withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters. The truth is that it feels very solid in the hands and the robustness of its casing makes me think that it will not be easily damaged.

What I liked most about the design, apart from the metallic details that give it a touch of sophistication, is the Transparent back that allows you to see the internal components, such as the NFC module and the battery. Right there is the square camera module and a couple of pins at the bottom that nobody knows what they are for.

The front, however, has disappointed me a little. I like its 6.58″ LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution because It is clear, colorful and bright (it looks good even outdoors), but its refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz It seems to me a step backwardsNowadays, you can even find mobile phones for less than 100 euros with 90 Hz screens, which offer greater fluidity when scrolling through the interface and playing games.

I also didn’t like the screen frame, which is quite thick at the top and bottom, thus detracting from the elegance of the design. However, I was able to watch movies and series in high definition (1080p) with this mobile phone in very good image qualitywhich outperforms other rugged phones in its price range, as they typically use HD (720p) displays.

It has a total of three buttons, all of them made of aluminum: one to turn the volume up and down, another to turn it on (it has an integrated fingerprint reader), and a last one on the left side to which you can assign any action. That’s right, it has a Customizable button that you can use to quickly activate the flashlight, camera, voice recorder, etc.. You choose!

The ports are located at the bottom and are a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the top, it has a tray for two SIM cards or a micro SD. Regarding wireless connectivity, it offers what is necessary: WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5, GPS and NFC.

Decent single sensor camera

The AGM X6 Phantom only has two camera sensors: one on the back of 50 MP and another on the front of 16 MP. Both are capable of take quality photos with a good level of detail and good colors when there is enough natural light.

As is usual in the price range in which this mobile moves, The Achilles heel of their cameras is capturing photos and videos in low lightas it loses a lot of quality. It shows noise, discoloration and even overexposure.

In addition, the main camera is not very versatile: it only has digital zoom that degrades image quality, and Although it can record videos with a maximum resolution of 1080p, it lacks image stabilization (This causes the videos to come out a bit blurry.) I have to admit, though, that I was impressed by the macro mode; it focuses perfectly on close objects without losing quality.

The performance of the AGM X6 Phantom is impeccable for basic use

The processor of this smartphone is the Unisoc Tiger T750, which is equivalent to an older mid-range SoC like the Snapdragon 675. It is backed by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, thus providing a Excellent performance with social networks, basic tasks, multimedia and not very demanding gamesIt is worth noting that it comes with Android 14 out of the box, which includes all the Google services and apps you need.

Its interface is quite clean; it doesn’t have any unnecessary features or apps. The only additional thing it offers is a section to configure the customizable button to which you can assign five different functions, such as activating the camera or the flashlight. It also It has a section for its temperature sensor integrated into the backwhich can measure the temperature of the forehead, wrist and objects, and record and label the measurements taken.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide information about updates of the operating system and security. And that could be a negative point, since there is a chance that it will not receive important updates in the future.

The AGM X6 Phantom battery is enough for 1 day of use

Its 5000 mAh battery can keep the phone in standby mode for 178 hours, according to the brand. In my tests, The autonomy of the AGM X6 Phantom was 13 hours with average use. That is, I only had to charge it once a day at most.

Regarding the load, supports up to 18W, but comes with a 10W chargerWith this charger, charging your battery from 20 to 100% is achieved in about 2 hours.

Final verdict: The AGM X6 Phantom is the rugged and sophisticated phone I always wanted, but with room for improvement

The AGM X6 Phantom is a rugged and durable smartphone that I was impressed with its transparent design, solid performance and high-resolution display.Although I miss a higher refresh rate. Their cameras also leave something to be desired, but I wouldn’t say they are bad. I have managed to take very good photos with them in well-lit places.

It is a very complete mobile phone that It can last you years and has everything you need in your day to day life, including 5G, NFC, a large battery with 1 day of autonomy or more, Android 14 without annoying apps and even a temperature sensor that works with objects and people.

Its price of €299.99 I think that’s appropriate. If you want an all-terrain vehicle that can withstand anything and with a style that attracts attention, the AGM X6 Phantom is one of the few options on the market that will meet your expectations.
