The medium Atletico had an exclusive with an anonymous Amazon spokesperson, who revealed the new measures with which they are actively attacking piracy on their platform.

To begin with, they are blocking applications pirates who illegally transmit content protected by copyright, such as series, films or sports broadcasts. This is nothing new. Earlier this year, the platform had already disabled four popular hacking apps for the same reason.

Although it was not specified what these applications are, it is noted that these blocks began in France and Germany and will soon extend to the rest of the world. Furthermore, will affect both new and old Fire TV Sticks. And not only is it a blocker for installation, if you already have them installed, they will be disabled anyway.

Now, the big news is in the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select. We remind you that with this version released a few weeks ago the new Linux-based Vega OS system debuted which replaces Fire OS. Well, the spokesperson revealed that this system comes with a block preventing sideloading (APK installation) so that only apps can be installed from the official Amazon store.

However, it was not specified whether this last measure (prohibiting sideloading to install apps with APKs on Amazon devices) will retroactively affect older Fire TV Sticks. Those who receive the Vega OS update are likely to be affected, although official confirmation is lacking.

And you… Were you used to installing apps on your Fire TV Stick with APKs?
